“We draw from so many places. Every song is different from the one before it,” says Mark Hoppus about Plus 44, his new electronic-tinged vehicle with longtime comrade, Travis Barker. “Everything has gone though so many permeations, I can’t wait until [the album] gets out there so people can finally hear it.” Aiding Hoppus and Barker are Shane Gallagher (the Nervous Return) and monster guitarist Craig “Craig-Leg” Fairbaugh (Mercy Killers, the Forgotten, Transplants, Bastards). The album-parts of which were recorded in Barker’s basement and Hoppus’ dining room-is tentatively titled after a European euphemism for orgasm. “There’s a line in the song that goes ‘A little death makes life more meaningful’,” says Hoppus. “That line has a lot of meaning to me, because of everything that’s happened over the past couple of years-and of course, the double entendre of making out with my wife.”
